Covering a site area of about 12,000 m² with a floor area of about 35,000 m², the hospital is initially planned with about 200 beds. It is a high-end paediatric medical center providing high-quality medical services and health management for children aged 0–18.

Guided by the motto "Everything for the children," Shanghai StarKids Children's Hospital is an extension of the international brand of the Children's Hospital of Fudan University, and is fully managed by the Children's Hospital of Fudan University. To achieve unified management with the main hospital, the Children's Hospital of Fudan University assigns medical, nursing and specialist staff at or above the intermediate professional title to lead clinical care, quality and safety at StarKids.

The hospital has clinical departments including Paediatric Internal Medicine, Paediatric Surgery, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, Stomatology, Child Health, Child Psychology & Rehabilitation, and more. It also offers rare/complex disease consultations (UDP), multidisciplinary team (MDT) clinics, and remote consultations for critical cases.
The hospital is equipped with large imaging equipment such as MRI, CT and DSA, digital integrated operating rooms, paediatric endoscopy, and advanced diagnostic and treatment devices for dentistry, ophthalmology and ENT. It provides international, first-class services including cardiac, cerebral and renal angiography, transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, real-time 3D echocardiography, video EEG, and paediatric gastroscopy.
